Reserved  tax credits are equal to 100% of an eligible contribution and can be used for up to 50% of the donor's annual tax liability.
Estimate your liability based on what you paid last year. Tax credits can be used for up to four years.
Reserve your tax credits and mail your contribution to the Bright Futures Fund before December 31.

How does the process work?

Like with general donations, your contributions ensure that our students have a brighter future. With the addition of the MOScholars Scholarship program, not only are we able to provide even more funds to families and students in need; but contributors to the program can reserve tax credits, equal to 100% of an eligible contribution* 
*not to exceed 50% of the donor’s state tax liability for the tax year the credit is claimed. MOScholars tax credits may be carried forward for four (4) subsequent tax years. The tax credit is not sellable, transferrable, or refundable. Learn more here

Once a reservation of tax credits has been made with Missouri's Treasurer Office you are able to pay for that reservation via check or wire. Please note that our online, general, donation form should not be used to pay for reserved tax credits. Additionally, per the program rules set forth by the State, these payments can only come from personal or business checks. ​*Please note, in order to use the tax credits you reserve, you'll likely need a MO-TC form for the filing year. The most current version of this form is available through the Missouri Department of Revenue's website once drafted by the state. Be aware that this form is not generated by us, but rather it is a general tax form for any tax credits available in the state.
